This is digital marketing tool talk, never miss out or fall behind on the latest digital tools for social media, SEO content reviews, and the entire digital marketing space. I'm your host, Brandon Hughes. Welcome back everyone. I want to share a tool with you today. It's free and it's for all of you out there who are finding content all over the place and need to organize it. If that's you, if you're a content creator, you're finding things on your iPhone, your iPad, your tablet, maybe your browser, maybe on your laptop, a desktop. Then this is a tool that you're definitely going to want to find out about. So the name of this tool, this content collaborator or grabber if you will, is called get pocket and you can find their website@getpocket.com. You can also find it in a lot of other places because it's available as an extension on Chrome and a various other browsers and just all over the place.

So what is get pocket? What can it do for you? First of all, it's free. And as you discover content out there that you want to read later, use later or consume later in one way or another, you can do that. You can grab content when you're on your phone and save it in one place. You can grab it when you're on your iPad. If you use Android, it's works with that as well. Web, Firefox, your Mac, all different places. So no matter where you are, if you're in your office and you're on your desktop, you can grab that information and save it for later. If you're on the road or you're traveling, you can use your phone or your iPad, grab that information and it gets saved in the same place. So it all pulls in together so that you can follow up on it, use it, rehash it take a look at it all different places that you could grab the information and pull it into one location.

So for, for me, I'm always writing articles. I'm always blogging, I'm doing things like this podcast. So I see little tidbits here and there. Hey, someone talks about a tool, someone talks about something that's content related or maybe something that's timely that I need to discuss or I need to to look into. This is a tool that you can use. Of course the best part about it is it's free. They do offer some premium levels but really you don't have to use it unless you're going to be a real power user and it's quite reasonable and I'll come to that in a second. One of the things they also mentioned in here outside of work unless your work involves travel, is they kind of suggest that using this for travel, and I totally related to this, when I saw this on their website and basically when we get ready to take a trip, we always jump online, Hey there to do in LA, what's there to do in Chicago and we start pulling up all these articles and we find them all over the place.

Speaker 1:                              03:06

It could be a local city article, it could be a national type of article or something cool to do and we're always finding cool things before we travel. Of course the trick is when we're getting ready to leave. Well, what? Where was that article? What was that restaurant that really well known famous restaurant. We want to go to it when we're there. So they they, one of the things that they promote, forget pocket outside of work, he's using it for travel. And I think it's a great example of something that you could use this tool for. Here's something else that this thing does that totally blew my mind. Not only can you save all of these clips into one place to read later, but you can also have text to speech so that you can listen to these articles that you save later. If you're a road warrior or you're out and about, this is amazing.

Speaker 1:                              04:01

You could be saving your stuff all over the place. It's free, it's part of the free service that they offer. It's free. You can save all of these things and then have it read it back to you later. So if you're on the go, if you're listening, if you like to listen to podcasts like this one, then you're used to consuming content via audio. So that is an amazing feature that get pocket.com the a dozen offers. So basically what you do is when you're reading an article, you can save the whole website, you can email it to yourself, they provide you with an email and it compiles everything together. You can take clips, just portions of it. If you want to just save a portion of, maybe it's a long article and there's just a particular fact or a stat that's in there that you want to save, you can do that as well.

Speaker 1:                              04:50

They, the free account include, allows you to save and allows you to read, watch and listen at anytime, whenever, whenever you want. And I think for the majority of people out there, this is all you're going to need. I mean the free service is what most of us are looking for. There is something though in the premium version that they have a annual membership. It's like $45 a year, so it's less than $4 a month. So if you think you're going to be a power user of this, if you're just a content junkie, constantly pulling things in from multiple different sources and want to look at them all together, it might be something worthwhile to get. They have something that totally caught my eye on the annual the premium plan, which is a permanent library of everything you saved. Now, right now as I'm doing this podcast, we're getting ready to roll into the 2020 election seat, a season, the election year.

Speaker 1:                              05:45

And if there's anything that has happened since things have gone digital is boy, these politicians things creep up that they did five, 10, 15 years ago. And sure enough, one of the people on get pocket.com is a website that is providing a testimonial is a journalist. And that journalist specifically says that they want to save these information from these webpages in case they get taken down. So if you're looking for something like that, that will save that image. You can't navigate from it, but it will save it in case it gets taken down. Then the premium membership is probably something that you want to do. You can highlight, you can do search and the premium. You can do smart tags, there's a bunch of other things. So if you're dealing with a high volume of content and pulling it in from a whole bunch of different areas, then this is something, the premium version might be something you want to consider.

Speaker 1:                              06:44

I highly recommend trying out the free version and I talk a lot about all different tools here on the podcast, but this is one that I'm definitely gonna consider using, especially as I'm compiling data all over the place. If you've used this or you use a similar tool, I'd love to hear from you. If you like what you heard today, please rate, review and subscribe to this podcast. If you have a digital marketing tool or tip that maybe you use or even one that you've created, let me know. I'd love to feature it on the show. I'll see you on the new school. Flip side.
